‘Deer-Resistant’ Plants

When planning out your landscaping, it’s good to take into consideration plants that deer generally avoid. While there are no plants that are completely deer-resistant, they do tend to avoid certain smells and textures.

Not everything in our landscaping will be deer-resistant and those plants can be protected with deer fencing and sprays. Also planting a mix of deer-resistant plants next to those that deer find delicious can help, like planting daffodil bulbs next to tulips or planting an herb border around your roses.

Planting deer-resistant plants may feel limiting but there are quite a few beautiful options. For more information, you can refer to Rutgers University well-researched list to get you started.
