Spring has sprung and it’s time to clean, prep and make way for new growth!

Here’s a checklist to get you started:

Clean up Winter Debris

Clean up beds, rake up all the leaves, branches and twigs that have accumulated over the winter.

Pruning & Cut Backs

  • Cut back perennials to make way for new growth.

  • Hard prune roses -

Check out David Austin Roses blog for detailed instructions on pruning both shrub and climbing roses.

  • Hard prune woody SUMMER & FALL shrubs.

NOTE: Do NOT add cut back or pruning debris to your compost. If there was rot or fungus on the plant, you do not want to risk infecting your compost.

Deer Spray!

You know who loves tulips? Deer! The minute your spring bulbs start peeping through the soil, they are at risk of becoming a tasty treat.

Fertilize your Soil

Now is the time to add granular and pellet fertilizers to build up your soil. Take a look at your soil and what you are growing to determine what type of fertilizer would work best.
